Where Estrella Mountain Ranch Is

Estrella is in southern Goodyear (ZIP 85338), roughly a 17-mile drive from downtown Phoenix. Most residents reach the freeway along Estrella Parkway to I-10. The community backs up to Estrella Mountain Regional Park, so open desert and mountain views are part of daily life.

The Villages of Estrella

Estrella is built as a group of villages, and each one has its own feel, builders, and home styles:

  • Mountain Ranch is the original village, home to North Lake and South Lake.
  • Montecito sits at the center of Estrella and is one of its largest villages.
  • Lucero is the northernmost village, by the main entrance.
  • CantaMia is a gated active-adult community for ages 55+, with its own amenities and separate HOA dues for its residents.

Which village a home is in affects the HOA dues, the age of the home, and which builder built it, so it matters when you compare listings.

Lakes and the Estrella Yacht Club

Estrella has two private lakes, North Lake and South Lake, totaling about 72 acres. The Yacht Club gives residents free use of non-motorized boats (kayaks, paddle boats, canoes, and sailboats), and both lakes are stocked for catch-and-release fishing. In Phoenix's West Valley, lake access like this is rare.

Residents Clubs

  • Starpointe Residents Club is a 24,400 sq. ft. clubhouse on North Lake, with a resort-style play pool, a heated lap pool, and a fitness center.
  • Presidio Residents Club is an 18,500 sq. ft. club at the heart of Estrella.

Access to the clubs is included through the community association. Ask for the current details for the specific home you're considering.

Golf, Trails, and Parks

  • Golf Club of Estrella is a public, par-72, 18-hole championship course designed by Nicklaus Design and managed by Troon Golf.
  • Trails and parks: Estrella has an extensive network of walking and biking paths and dozens of parks, and Estrella Mountain Regional Park is next door for hiking and mountain biking.

Everyday Conveniences

Mountain Ranch Marketplace covers daily errands, and the Banner Health Center next to it offers primary care inside the community.

Homes in Estrella Mountain Ranch

You'll find resale homes, new construction from several builders, and custom homesites, ranging from one- and two-story single-family homes to larger homes on hillside and view lots. Because the villages were built over many years, two homes a mile apart can differ a lot in age, energy efficiency, and HOA structure.

Thinking about buying here? Check these five things first:

  1. HOA dues, and whether there's a sub-HOA. Many Estrella neighborhoods have a master association plus a neighborhood association. Get the total.
  2. CantaMia age requirements if you're looking at the 55+ village.
  3. Solar. If the home has solar panels, find out whether they're owned or leased. A lease transfers to you and affects your loan approval.
  4. New build vs. resale. Builder incentives can be strong, but resale homes often come with landscaping, window coverings, and a pool already in place.
  5. Your commute. Drive your route to work at rush hour along Estrella Parkway and I-10 before you commit.

Selling a Home in Estrella

Buyers shopping in Estrella compare homes village by village.
